You can wear any colour (dark being a preference), but grey, brown etc are all fine. A colour that looks good on you. The only reason I say blue is that's it been around forever and doesn't change with the fashions. It's always serviceable (Weddings, Funerals, Evenings etc) And I agree, wear a tie. Even if the workplace is casual, you are not an employee yet so you do not get to go casual. Navy blue.

Anyway, just nice clothing would do... Slacks (black or beige), a belt, a dress-shirt and maybe a jacket... black socks with black dress shoes. If he's wearing a jacket, a tie would help a lot, if he's just wearing the dress-shirt the tie might look a bit goofy. Your English is perfect.

Make sure he has nice dress shoes as well. A good resume is very important and if he has a portfolio that always helps.
