What should I do if interviewer offers me job before telling me salary and benefits?

I had an interview last Wednesday and it went well. He said he’s let me know by mid next week. Today is one week after.

At the interview, he didn’t bring up salary or benefits so I didn’t want to because it gives them the wrong idea.

Do employers offer jobs before they tell you the salary and benefits? And if calls me tdaoy saying thye’d love for me to work there, how do I ask what the salary and benefits are?

I can’t take a job without knowing that info?
