My fiance is going through his mid-20s crisis and wants to go back to school to get his JD.

His undergraduate GPA was a little below 3.0, but his LSAT was decent. He studied for 2 weeks for a few hours after work using some LSAT guidebooks and he received a 162. He’s applying to re-take September’s LSAT and he’s already begun studying. He’s brilliant, but was kind of lazy, so I know he’ll do better if he actually invests time.

He worked on an important political campaign and he currently works at a law firm, so I hope both those jobs will bolster his law school application. He can get some great letters of recommendation from a few professors, an internship, and the candidate he worked for in the 2006 election.

Assuming he applies to a mid-range law school, what are his chances of getting in? What can he do to increase the likelihood?

He has a very high GRE score, as well. Would it be easier to get into grad school?
He has his bachelor’s degree in International Politics from a pretty good school.
