A friend of mine had multiple DUI’s when he was between the ages of 16-20. He’s now in his mid 40’s and has never been able to get his license back. So my question is should a person be punished all his life and be made to work menial jobs all his life because of stupid things he did when he was young. He only hit a parked car and a tree and was the only one in the car. Why should a murderer be able to get out of prison after 10 or 15 years and be able to petition the court for reinstatement of his rights but a guy who had convictions for DUI be destined to a life that NEVER allows him to be legal on the road? Even after 20+ years of sobriety. My opinion is that MADD is way too powerful and unreasonable when it comes to this issue. And I do think that people that drive drunk and KILL someone SHOULD loose their license for life and spend time in prison. But what do all of you think?
Parents were alcoholics so he stood a slim chance of not becoming one himself. What kind of job can you get without being able to drive to and from a job? Those who side with the law didn’t explain the injustice of criminal laws verses MADD sponsored laws. If laws were equal in our society for poor as well as rich I may side with MADD. What about Jeb Bush’s daughter or the Bush twins or Charlie Sheen or Nick Nolte? I could go on and on! I can only hope the law effects your family or ones close to you so you can understand the financial burden and black cloud a person is forced to live with for the rest of their lives. Also your arguments S*U*C*K, HE DID NOT KILL ANYONE. Yes, he could have but he DIDN’T. Laws lets pedophiles live among you, child murderers live among you, but MADD and the silly people that push it’s agenda want you to believe that taking a persons driving privileges away from them for life is going to SAVE THE CHILDREN. Get your priorities straight would you please.
Should a drunk driver ever get a break?
