Is San Diego a good place for a single woman in her mid-30′s?

I am thinking of relocating from Denver to San Diego area for a job opportunity. I am a single 33 year old female and I am unfamiliar with the area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I could live anywhere between San Diego and La Jolla.
