Is it bad or normal to break a job contract?

mid jobs
Starlight20 asked:

I’m thinking of applying for this internship, but it’s for 6 months, and I was planning on moving mid next year, so will only be able to work for 4 or 5 months. Would it be bad not to tell them this, and then move later?? It’s a contract job.

Not if you want them to give you a good word on your next job’s interview.

As someone who had a job offer signed by an employer and later taken away because of the economy, I say go ahead. I tried to sue and threatten legal action, but the attorney fees were too much for something considered 50/50. Employers ***** people over and lie all the time, why just them? Just get some legal advice, but I doubt they would pursue it for an intern. You might need a reference someday from them so keep that in mind. You need to break eggs to make an omelette.
