I was placed at risk of redundancy on 1 February 2007 (because my employer intends to relocate our jobs to India) and the 90-day consultation period ended yesterday. We’ve been told that the earliest anyone will be made redundant will be 1 August and it looks likely that my job will be OK until mid December.
However, I’ve been offered another job that wants me to start ASAP and it would obviously be good if I can get out with some sort of redundancy payment. From what the management have said so far there would seem to be 4 types of redundancy packages available:
(A) Nothing.
(B) Statutory minimum redundancy (1.5 weeks per year of service?)
(C) Enhanced redundancy (statutory + 2 weeks). This is conditional on signing a Compromise Agreement.
(D) Enhanced + £2,000 bonus. This is conditional on leaving on the preferred date suggested by the company.
I’d guess that I’d not get (D) if I want to leave ASAP, but I want to improve my chances of getting (B) or (C). Any suggestions?
