How beneficial will an internship and collegiate SGA experience be to finding a job after graduation?

mid-level jobs
dustin_piercy asked:

I am currently a junior level undergraduate student studying Political Science with a focus on American Politics and Policy. I have recently quit my full-time job to come back to school in order to speed along my degree fulfillment. My main concern is not money now, it is money after I graduate. I would like to be able to obtain a mid-level job immediately after graduation. In order to boost my experience, I have decided to participate in an unpaid internship in Washington DC and do volunteer work in the Student Government Association as a member of the Executive Cabinet. These activities will take up a majority of my time (along with classwork) and therefore will not work part-time for a local business. Is this a good decision? Will the internship and SGA work prove to be good experience when I apply for work after graduation? I invite all insight, but if you are an employer or a public official, I will appreciate your input the most.

Don’t worry about it, because soon no one will have a job or money just to live on! What you should be doing is investing in guns, ammo, tools, hardened fortifications, fuel, food, and medicine to last you for a lifetime, because these are the items that will soon be appreciated in value a thousand times over! You need to familiarize yourself with how to defend yourself and scavenge to survive! Poli Sci isn’t going to help one bit in the near future! You need a real education not the kind they offer in the Ivy halls!

Im really not sure. I did the whole student council thing in college and I got to get experience in business meetings and resume building along with a few other things. Youd really have to do it before you could say what the benefits are.
