Has anyone else had trouble getting a respone from www.CraigsList.com for a job?

mid-level jobs
sarah90401 asked:

While job searching a few months ago, about 95% of the jobs that I applied to on Craigs List for Graphic Design were not responding. I am at mid level in my career, so I am not just “starting out” I have gotten a job since on Career Builder, but now I am on the search for some freelance work and I have not gotten any responses back again. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, I have that problem too. A lot of them don’t realize their ad is on there for a while and they hire someone who applies a different way and forget about craigslist. And if they don’t want to hire you, they rarely give you the courtesy of telling you that. I think it’s because they get so many responses.

People who post on craigslist are 95% retarded. Remember the posts are free so they have no value or meaning to the people who post them. They get flooded with replies and are ALWAYS looking for the most for the cheapest. If you are a mid level designer you will find it harder and harder to get jobs off of craigslist because you are moving in to a higher bracket then these people are willing to pay.

If they see your portfolio, or you include your rates 9 times out of 10 you are scaring them away. They want college students for slave labor.

So my suggestion would be to pick and choose the postings you reply to, or go on a massive reply bender and hope for the best, but remember 90% retarded.. ;)
