Yet all my life I’ve felt like an outsider and people from the county as in disbelief when they find out I’m from here. I started a new job recently and have had several co-workers ask me if I’m from the mid-West.

What’s up that? Am I not Southern enough or something?

I just know some people who are able to get better jobs but are so proud of their crappy jobs that they are embarrased to tell people where they work…it just gets to me that people can be proud of being a waitress for 4 years or work at a clothing store for a long time…those kinds of jobs to me are only “for the time being” so maybe for a year but no more then that…and I am talking about people in their early to mid 20’s…
they are proud of their job/s but when it comes to talking to someone who is in a higher position then them they lie about what they do…
OK let me refrase my question then…

why are people so proud of their jobs…when they think themselves that it is crappy and then when asked by someone who is in a higher position they lie about where they work?

I am not spoiled…I have been working since I was 14…I pay for everything on my own…and I am very independent…
I have had crappy jobs…I went through a couple but never lied about it just because someone else had a better job then I did…
