Can a prospective employer take a photo of me at the job interview?

mid-level jobs
eclecticlazyland asked:

I went to a mid level admin job interview at a recruitment firm and they took a digital photo, just of my face. They asked my verbal permission but I didn’t have to sign any waivers or anything. I haven’t been for an interview for about five years (when I got my current job) and this has never happened before, are they allowed to do this?

Disturbingly, yes – if you gave permission. Some recruiters do this to help remember the applicants for a job. Others, unfortunately, use it as a tool to select ‘attractive’ employees. I don’t really understand either use of your photo but this trend seems to be increasing. If you get the chance, or it happens again don’t be afraid to ask why they want your photo and what it will be used for. If they won’t tell you maybe this isn’t the job/recruitment company for you.

well if you stood there and let them take the photo they can, if you were like no no and they did it against your will then you can take some action. i dont have any idea why they would take one though.
