Anyone in their early-mid 20′s and never had a “real” job?

Baby Girl Scarlett Due 1/12/10 asked:

I want to know i’m not alone here. I married into the military and because of his deployments and our family life I am 23 with over 2 years of college left. So I will be just turning 26 before I ever go for my first entry-level position. I don’t know why this is really making me feel like I will have no chance at getting a good job because I waited so long. Any advice or ideas?

Finish college, get a job. Simple. If you want to work, you will find a job somewhere, somehow.

You’re not alone hun… I’m 23 and never had a real job either. I met my hubby when I was 19 and he’s taken care of me and insists I stay at home. He’s old fashioned that way. Well, just turned 23 and fixing to give birth to our first child and … it’s out of the question to get a job now. Although I can continue my education via online. But I’m not complaining.. just gets a little boring sometimes.

Don’t feel too bad I’m 25 finishing up school as well and I probably and going to get a 2nd degree before I get my masters. It doesn’t matter when you finish the race so long as you finish.

You are not alone. It’s a change in society. People are graduating later. In the next two years, try to do as much volunteering or internships as you can, if you can’t get a part time job. It will give you something to talk about in your first big job interview after graduation. Good luck.
